Marion Mompontet
Research Assistant

Currently studying law at UQAM, Marion Mompontet holds a law degree in France and two university degrees in American law and Anglo-Saxon law. Her research focuses on the detention regime applicable to members of the “Islamic State” captured during the armed conflict between the US-led International Coalition in Syrian territory.

In parallel with her studies, she collaborated for several months with the Director General of Amnesty International Canada, Francophone Section, on issues concerning, among other, the right to housing and the right to a healthy environment, as well as economic, social and cultural rights.

With the International Clinic for the Defense of Human Rights, Marion worked on the development of a Guide to the Mechanisms of the Inter-American System for the Protection of Human Rights, mandated by Avocats Sans Frontières Canada. She then continued as a case manager on the same mandate since September 2017. During the Winter 2018 she was also case manager on a mandate to draft a memorandum for the European Court of Human Rights on a case of violation of the right to freedom of expression in Russia.
