Mathilde Lafortune is a recent graduate of the University of Quebec in Montreal with a BA in International Relations and International Law.
She is currently based in Bolivia where she acts as a gender equality advisor for the Quebec Program for International Development and Uniterra program. She has also worked as a research assistant at the SNDT Women’s University Research Center for Women’s Studies in Mumbai. During her studies, Mathilde Lafortune worked with UQAM’s International Human Rights Defence Clinic (CIDDHU) to write a petition to the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights regarding violence against women. She then participated in the 23rd edition of the Inter-American Human Rights Moot Court competition, which focused on gender-based violence in international human rights law.
